In a distressing turn of events, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the prominent figure at the helm of the Wagner private military company, was tragically on board a jet that met a catastrophic crash, claiming the lives of all those aboard. Initial information stemming from the Wagner-linked Grey Zone Telegram channel suggested that Prigozhin’s personal aircraft might have fallen victim to air defenses. Subsequent updates from the same channel implied that the demise of Prigozhin could be attributed to actions undertaken by individuals considered disloyal to Russia.

The crash, which is shrouded in tragedy, follows Prigozhin’s involvement in an ill-fated rebellion against the Russian armed forces earlier in June. Notably, this incident comes on the heels of reports indicating the removal of senior Russian general Sergei Surovikin from his position as the air force chief. Surovikin’s close association with Prigozhin and his conspicuous absence since the failed mutiny have sparked attention.

The aircraft, en route from Moscow to St Petersburg, carried seven passengers and three crew members. Notably, the Grey Zone Telegram channel reported that a separate business jet owned by Prigozhin safely landed in the Moscow region.
